What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
Like a Raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
and then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

Langston Hughes is one of my favorite poets! I like his other poem on dream. "Hold Fast to dreams for if dreams die life is like a broken winged bird that cannot fly".
ReplyDeleteOlgie thanks for reading my blog. It took me a while to figure, but I put two and two together, plus thank goodness for Facebook.
